Weather WATCH vs Weather WARNING
WATCH indicates that conditions are favourable for a severe storm but an actual storm has yet to be sighted vs WARNING indicates that severe weather is either already occuring or is highly probable.
Safety Tips
- Listen to the radio on a regular basis, especially if the weather looks threatening.
- As Canadians we know that the weather can change quickly. If you're heading out for the day, be prepared and bring extra clothing, in case the weather turns.
- Before you leave your campsite, secure items such as lawn chairs, toys, clothing, etc.
- If possible, log on to www.weatheroffice.gc.ca (Environment Canada) for accurate and up-to-date weather near you.
- In the event of severe weather, stay INSIDE your vehicle rather than in a tent or outdoors.
- If there is lightening and you are in an open area, crouch down and cover your head
- Talk to your children about what to do if the weather should turn for the worse. Make sure they know your campsite number and the location of the park office where staff may be able to help them.
- If the kids are out hiking or riding their bikes, make sure they check in on a regular basis.
